The Inquiry of Massive Open Online Course's Profit Model

摘要

MOOC is free and open education curriculum, how to make profits in the free framework? MOOC should establish the "laddered profit model" that is from "nonprofit model", "net-school profit model" to "open-website profit model", based on the participation of the enterprises and the form of courses offered. The massive open online course (referred to as MOOC) was vigorously emerged in 2012. Its rapid development and popularization caused widespread concern in the remote education and even in the whole education. In the first half of 2013, MOOC has got actively promoted and responded by the official and the folk in China. Many universities and enterprises have joined MOOC. In the various effects of the education and society brought by MOOC, the first to be considered is the issue of profit model. This article, by analyzing and comprising the business model of the domestic MOOC, and reference from other domestic online education site and e-commerce site, suggests that the MOOC should establish a laddered profit model, according to the enterprise involvement and the establishment form of course( Table 1).
