In recent years, the studies on Li-rich layered materials composed of Li[Li-Mn-Ni-Co]02 have become appealing, because they exhibit much higher capacities (~250 mAh/g) in the potential range from 2.0 V to 4.6 V [1]. However, this class of materials exhibits an accelerated capacity fade during cycling or storage at elevated temperatures as a result of the chemical reactions between the delithiated cathode and the electrolyte at high operating potential.
