Health promotion in Mauritania with the checklist of the grass-root grand aid scheme of the Japanese embassy

Japanese official aids highlight basic human needs, human life and health such as education, medicalservice and gender. The embassy of Japan supports to materialize such objectives of Japanese OfficialDevelopment (ODA). The grass-root grand aid scheme is one of various approaches of ODA, which is flexible,prompt and closer to local population’s basic needs.In order to upgrade transparency, accountability and adherence to MDGs, the checklist of projectselection is contrived and verified for 7 proposed health center renovation projects. Although all proposedprojects obtained enough score to be adopted, 4 of them were validated and 3 were disqualified. The distinctionbetween them depends on the score associated with the financial stability and the decent management of therecipients.By filling the checklist, recipients are expected to understand the population beneficiaries, financialhealth of applicant agencies, Japanese ODA concerns and MDGs so that they can smoothly make a consensuswith Japanese ODA policy and the Mauritanian policy. Those projects selected by the checklist harmonize withhealth promotion, which may lead to more satisfied outcome.
