Long-term Results of Rheohaemapheresis Treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration

Purpose: To determine long-term effects of rheohaemapheresis treatment in late stage of dry form age related macular degeneration Methods: This study evaluates results of 19 patients (average age 67.6 years) with soft drusen, confluent soft drusen or even drusenoid pigment epithelium detachment (DPED), who were treated with rheohemapheresis and compare them with the control group of 18 patients (average age 72.8 years). The follow-up period was 3.5 years. The best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), size of the DPED, and retinal function by electroretinography (ERG) was measured.
