Platelet-rich plasma autologous eyedrops and punctal plug occlusion for dry eye secondary to graft versus host disease

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) autologous eyedrops obtained with PRF-Vivostat~R for the purpose of improving visual quality in patients with graft versus host disease (GVHD). Twelve eyes of 12 patients were treated with PRP eyedrops and punctal plug occlusion. Tear-BUT, Schirmer test, fluorescein staining, visual acuity and visual quality improved statically after treatment. No adverse effects were observed during the follow-up, no antibiotic prophylactic eyedrops were used. In conclusion, PRP eyedrops obtained with PRF-Vivostat~R improved visual quality scores, dry eye symptoms and visual complaining in our case series. Further studies are needed to confirm our results.
