Despite the considerable number of studies on the impacts of climate change on alpine plants, then have been few attempts to investigate its effect on regeneration ( Hedhly et al 2009). However recruitment from seeds is a key event in the life-historyof plants, affecting their distribution am evolution, and seasonal changes in climate will inevitably affect recruitment success (Walck et al 2011 Mondoni et al 2012). Here, we have been investigating how climate change will affect the timing am the level of germination and subsequent seedling establishment in eight alpine species of the glacie foreland from the European Alps.
