The geomechanical variability is an important factor in the development of mining works. Characteristic of the rock mass which are considered a fundamental factor in the performance of mining tunnels construction. In particular, this variability can influence several factors in a TBM: preparation time, steels wear, spare parts requirements, energy consumed, performances, etc. The attribute variability such as the work index, UCS, joint in the rock, etc. can be characterized through variographic models to perform simulations of different scenarios, where the performance of the TBM can be calculated in each case through deterministic models in terms of preparation time.The characteristics of the rock mass have been widely used in mining projects, assuming homogeneous characteristics in sectors. Many structural projects are not profitable because have problems in development of access and infrastructure for the start of production. In this research, different geomechanical scenarios to describe the variability in the performance of a TBM during the mine preparation were simulated. This can describe the preparation time of a new mine level with different levels of confidence, which are characterized by uncertainty in the rock mass, variable that affects the TBM performance. In operational terms, the development of this type of studies facilitates the decision-making of future scenarios in the development of undergrounds mines to generate measures of containment against adverse conditions associated with variability.
