This paper presents in detail the accelerated jumper fabrication process with implementation of improvement areas, opportunities and the resultant benefits for Production and Water Injection Jumper Delivery. The need to bring more barrels of hydrocarbon to the Bonga FPSO within shorter delivery timelines has prompted an optimization and improvement in the fabrication process of Well Jumpers. Historically, Bonga Well Jumper fabrication and hook up has been delivered within three months, hence a candidate for improved delivery time. To this end, the project team championed the cause for an accelerated Well Jumper fabrication study primarily aimed at shortening Jumper delivery time thereby reducing jumper availability on the critical path to well hook up and oil production. The outcome of the study and workshop identified opportunities for improvements in procurement processes, standardization of processes and procedures, early engineering and metrology, expansion of fabrication yards and provision of adequate logistics planning. Procurement plans have also been implemented to ensure that adequate spares and replacement parts are available on site to ensure the reduced Jumper fabrication schedule can consistently be achieved. Furthermore, recertification of recovered spools and components has significantly driven down fabrication cost and time.
