The quoted price aside, the factor ‘time’ remains a major influence in the selection criteria of contractors for repair of power engineering turbine sets. Contracts are mostly signed with companies that not only offer quality service at competitive prices, but also in a position to complete the job in the shortest time. Reduction of the total duration of the repair nvolves the necessity to shorten the time of individual overhaul operations. Increased participation of the human factor has been utilised to a maximum for a long time now. Most overhauls in power engineering are performed under a multi-shift system, 24 hours a day. Fewer and fewer young people crave hard overhaul work, requiring constant business trips and multi-shift work. At the same time, experienced employees with many years of experience are deservedly retiring, leaving behind a big competence gap.
