LOW-SPEED SYNCHRONOUS GENERATORS WITH AN OUTPUT CAPACITY FROM 10 MW TO 60 MW FOR DIESEL ELECTRIC POWER STATIONS

The diesel-electric plants within the power range from several kilowatts to tens of megawatts are under manufacture nowadays. Basically such plants are intended both for the power supply of settlements, factories having no access to the state power grid and for the use as the emergency power supply sources at the objects of higher importance. From the beginning of the 80’s of the 20th century the rapid development of the power high-voltage diesel-electric plants production began. Based on such plants tens of electric power stations with an output capacity up to 250 MW have been constructed and under construction at the present time. The increased interest in the diesel-electric power stations may be explained by many factors: they are much less expensive as compared with the thermal and nuclear power plants, they have the higher efficiency, and the quantity of carbon dioxide (CO2) disposed by them to the atmosphere is much less.
