Pre-feasibility study for CCS application on 600 MWe coal fired unit in China

In 2009 the Ministry Of Science and Technology of Republic of People of China - Italian Ministry for Environment Land and Sea and ENEL signed a cooperation agreement on clean coal technologies including carbon capture and storage technologies. The cooperation activities were technical exchanges on CCS studies in Italy and China and it was also agreed to begin a pre-feasibility study on a full chain demonstration project, including capture of CO2 from coal fired power plant, CO2 transport and storage. The study results obtained with reference to Chinese 600 MWe thermoelectric power plant were compared with those of Italian CCS demonstration project . The project , mainly supported by Italian Ministry for Environment , Land and Sea was launched in October 2010 and has been completed on June,10th , 2012 . The paper reports the main results of the preliminary study and main features of the processes and technologies that may be applied to the demonstrative application of CCS to the 600 MWe unit of Chinese coal power plant.
