We all have a career interest in corrosion, its management and, hopefully, its minimisation. That interest and those careers can take many forms, from an interest in and study of materials science, the investigation of corrosion mechanisms, application of electrochemical processes to mitigate that corrosion, to the use of coatings technology in the management of corrosion. There can be a substantial degree of specialisation in these careers, all nevertheless making a valuable contribution to the management of what is a significant problem and cost to our economy.
