In recent years, nanostructured 3d-metal oxides MOx (M = Cu, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, etc.) have been widely studied as anode materials for lithium-ion battery (LIB) owing to their high energy capacity. Among various transition metal oxides, iron oxide is one of the most intensively studied materials for LIB electrodes because of its high natural abundance, environmental benignity, low cost, and high theoretical capacity.
