Cost reduction is a must for today's extrusion industry. The aim of this paper is to illustrate case histories that will show evidence-based cost savings results, both for the die maker and the extruder, due to the use of a new software and hardware integrated system named Thango?. By allowing controlled, fast and instant online sharing of correction feedbacks, die designs, feasibility studies, pictures, and desktops between the extruder's technicians and the die maker's, the system allows complete feedback exchange, remote correction support, and electronic archive building between the extruder's and the die maker's technicians. This system can be used to create a communication standard with every die supplier, thanks to its multichannel, private, and secure sharing technology. The resulting cost reductions are due to: press productivity increase, correction process control, die trials and knock-off rate reduction, and time savings due to inefficiencies eliminated across the information exchange process between die shop and die makers.
