Due to our hope that aluminium phosphate can be used widely as a sealant for electric-arc thermal spray NiCr20 alloy coating, this work studied the permeability and pore-filling ability of this sealant. Two kinds of aluminium phosphate solution with molar ratio P/Al = 2.3 and 3.0 were studied. Research results showed that, with the appropriate values of viscosity, aluminum phosphate solutions penetrated deeply into the coating. After heat treatment at 400°C for 2 hours, the pore-filling ability of two aluminum phosphate sealants for the thermal spray NiCr20 coating was about 80-85%.
