An elasto-plastic consolidation theory for clay based on numerical modeling method is developed in this paper. Triaxial compress tests for different stress paths were carried out before the elasto-plastic constitutive model is derived. Based on Biot's consolidation theory, some modified incremental governing partial differential equations using the numerical model are established. Following the equations, a simplified elsato-plastic analysis system of an incremental diffusion equation and governing equations is presented. Furthermore, finite element analysis is presented to compare the answer from different stress paths. The results indicate that the effect of dilatancy and stress path should be taken into account in the simulation of the soil consolidation question. The decoupling method can predicts the evolvements of pore water pressure and settlement and reflect the effect of stress path.
