GREATER PALATINE FLAP FOR ORAL MAXILLOFACIALRECONSTRUCTION

摘要

The hard palate mucoperiosteum has excellent vascular supply emanating from the major palatine foramen. Although not proven, the vascular supply to this area is similar to direct cutaneous vascular supply to an area of skin (e.g. caudal superficial epigastric artery for ventral abdominal skin). Based on this specific vascular input, a mucoperiosteal flap of extended length can be developed for oral and maxillofacial reconstruction following maxillectomy or for treatment of oronasal communication.
