The poor cyclability of lithium metal electrodes in liquid electrolytes has been, so far, preventing the development and the commercialization of secondary lithium metal anode batteries (1,2). Thre decades ago, rechargeable, lithium-metal batteries were introduced in the market (Molicell), however, a series of accidents resulted in their sudden withdrawal. Since then, lithium-ion rechargeable batteries were only developed for commercial applications. The lithium-ion battery chemistry is now widely deployed in the market for most of portable devices.
