Plugging cameras, sonars, positioning systems, and leak detectors into a work-class ROV is almost always possible, if perhaps a bit tedious. The J box had lots of data and video transmission options, the tether had lots of fiber connections, and the topside room lots of room for multiple computers with multiple operators. Experts are available to configure, test, and monitor communications. On a mini-ROV, however, it's generally just the operator and perhaps one helper/tether minder. There's only room for one computer, and only one operator. The tether has just one spare pair or fiber connection. Some vendors who accommodate accessories allow them to be plugged in as needed on site, while others require factory intervention on each one.
