Carbon dioxide capture and sequestration (CCS) is recognized as one of the important options for reducing the CO2 emission and mitigate global warming. In the CCS system, CO2 generated from large point sources such as thermal power plants or industries processes would be captured and separated from the flue gas, and be sequestered in an appropriate sites, e.g., underground or in the ocean. The most important issue for the practical use of the CCS system is the process cost reduction. Especially, the cost reduction of CO2 capture process which accounts for a major portion of the total cost of the CCS system would be required.
