摘要

Modeling gas-phase trace element (TE) partitioning in coal fired furnaces is an important step in understanding environmental impacts of coal combustion. Thermodynamic calculations do not account for the microenvironment/matrix surrounding the TE during coal combustion. Depending on the TE form of occurrence in coal, its partitioning and, thus, environmental impact can be different. TE can be present in coal as a mineral inclusion, it can be associated with organic matrix of coal, and it can be present in the form of excluded mineral.
