Oriented zeolite membranes have been widely applied in separation and reaction. Second harmonic generation materials are developed using oriented zeolite films for aligned inclusion of hemicyanine dyes. The oriented zeolite monolayer loaded with functional dyes can ensure the fast transport of excitation energy in photonic devices. Oriented silica MFI films are ideal low-k materials. The preferentially oriented zeolite films or membranes can be fabricated using in-situ crystallization with specific compositions of involved species, in-situ oriented nucleation and growth on a structure-directing matrix, or controlled growth over a well-oriented seed layer.
