摘要

Domino effect is a well-known cause of major accidents in chemical and process industries, resulting in overall consequences more severe than those of the primary event. In our country, although the destructive potential of these accidental scenarios is widely recognized, scare attention was paid to this subject in the scientific and technical reference and the research on domino effect of major hazard units is still on its beginning stage. In this paper, escalation mechanism and overall frequency and consequence calculation method of accident caused by pool fire are analyzed and discussed in detail. And an oil storage tank area was studied, which shows that the estimation of risk increase of risk increase due to domino events is an important tool for an effective assessment and control of industrial risk in chemical and process plants.
