Effectiveness of enhanced external counterpulsation in complex treatment of chronic heart failure and arterial hypertension

In the pilot study complex treatment with enhanced external counterpulsation (EECP) was given to 32 patients with chronic heart failure of ischemic origin and refractory arterial hypertension of the grade 2-3. Improvement of hemodynamic parameters, myocardial contractile function, reduced consumption of hypotensive medications and nitrates is observed.Introduction Therapy for chronic heart failure complicated by angina pectoris and refractory hypertension is the most important and intractable problem. Increased risk of cardiovascular diseases in patients with arterial hypertension is caused by different factors, diastolic and systolic disfunctions of a left ventricular, increase in ventricular ectopic activity and poor coronary circulation are among them [1,2].
