Toward a Human Nature Based Automation System with Dynamic Function Allocation Model Supported for Pervasive Systems

In recent years, most researches regarding home automation technologies were focusing on "High-Performance" or "Human-Centered" automation systems. However, even though the "Human-Centered" systems have been developed for years, it is still far from being accepted by consumers. One of the major problems is that the technology development actually ignored the most important portion: the human nature. In this paper, the crux that why the automation systems could not satisfy the human nature is pointed out; furthermore, a possible solution to the problem is proposed. There is an attempt to improve the humanization of the automation system by combining the concept - Dynamic Function Allocation (DFA) -, which is one of the most important parts in human-machine technology, with the Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) system that is going to be presented in this paper for the pervasive platforms. The questionnaire analysis reveals that the DFA based home automation system could actually improve the humanization level more than the original automation systems that are mentioned could do. In addition, the experiment result shows that the performance of the DFA based system is still as high as the non-DFA MOM system.
