Due to the increase of the consumption of fossil energies, demand of crude oils in the next years could only be satisfied with a substantial improvement of capacities to produce non conventional oils, among which asphaltenic crudes belong. The mechanisms controlling the stability of asphaltenes remains a great challenge to solve, in particular in the field of the high pressures. Although numerous studies have been performed on asphaltene behavior, understanding when and how agglomeration and flocculation take place in live oils under pressure depression is still a hot topic today.
