Electric vehicles require high reliability, relatively wide torque and speed ranges and a high-power volume ratio. At present, induction motors, permanent magnet synchronous motors and switched reluctance motors have been successfully applied to hybrid vehicles; but there are still many deficiencies. Permanent magnet synchronous motors are widely used in the drive of electric vehicles because of their efficiency, high power density and high-torque characteristics. In the paper a mathematical model for vector control algorithms, control methods, and control strategies for use by hybrid electric vehicle will be developed. Meanwhile, an analysis of control system mechanisms, design software, and hardware based on DSP-based control will also be undertaken. An application of vector-driven direct torque control will be examined. The experimental results proved that the system has good performance.
