Mastering Production of OCTG Thread Protectors and Thread Sealing Lubricants

摘要

Remoteness of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) manufacturers from oil production sites evokes considerable losses due to deterioration of the initial quality of tubes in cargo handling and transportation operations. On the whole, about 5% of the total number of delivered tubes are lost in these operations. Long-term cooperation between State Enterprise NITI Laboratory of Protective Coatings and Soyuz Ltd. has brought understanding that only systematic and comprehensive approach to the problem of preserving tube quality can secure 100% quality deliveries to customers. Analysis of the tube handling and transportation conditions has shown that the design of protectors for threaded ends which are the most frequently injured part of the tubes has become the task of top priority.
