Sparse sensor detectors may be a low-cost alternative to traditional, high-resolution imaging sensors for object classification. Such sensors may serve as a critical component in ubiquitous monitoring applications in vast geographic regions, including the monitoring of national borders for objects of interest. This paper emphasizes the development of a Web service interface for a prototype unattended ground sparse sensor detector intended for deployment in a network-centric environment. The sensor is capable of discriminating among humans, humans wearing large backpacks, and humans wearing small backpacks. A simple Geographical Information System (GIS) application is described that illustrates how the sensor can be integrated into service-oriented applications via a Web interface.
