Rising prices, and the mounting insecurity of imported petroleum supplies, have fostered strong interest in the use of hydrogen as a future transportation fuel. Hydrogen is of particular interest as a secondary energy carrier because it has the potential to be storable, transportable, environmentally benign, and useful in many chemical processes.
