The Internet offers countless possibilities for education and creation, yet for the most part the uses it is being given have little to do with culture (and much to do with leisure and consumption). One of the problems of using the Internet for cultural purposes is that cultural institutions are slow to impose an order and criterion on a field which is evolving daily. Today, order on the World Wide Web is subordinated to the tyranny of search engines which use its speed and efficiency to establish the rules. In the field of education, however, the will has been lost to research new forms of structuring information that would help to define new ways of 'surfing' for information. We should lend all our support to a new investigation into graphic possibilities. In my paper I will illustrate the conceptual possibilities of diagrams used currently (which are threedimensional, formed by layers of information and not by 3D techniques), taking as my model a visual experiment put forward at the beginning of the 20th century by the historian Aby Warburg, denominated the Mnemosyne Atlas. I will allude to artists' responsibility to contribute new structural and collaborative solutions to the 2.0 web. Education needs more collaborative projects between students and teachers that foster the students' creativity and convince them of their ability to generate content in a graphic medium, and understand that the web is not only a place for chatting with friends. .
