Tomography Powered 3-phase Flow Metering in the Wet Gas Regime

The MPM meter has been developed and thoroughly tested and qualified in JIP's together with 9 major oil companies. The meter has been subject for substantial testing in the wet gas regime at SWRI and at K-Lab. During qualification, these test series were carries out as blind tests. In wet gas applications, the meter can be operated in two-phase mode (GOR input required) and in three-phase mode (meter is measuring all three phases). In addition, the meter has a salt detection function that is capable of detecting the onset of salt water production. The salt water detection function is split in two parts: (1) First, it is determined whether salt is present or not (by a so-called salt water index) (2) Second, if salt is present, then the salinity is measured quantitatively. Tests have shown that the meter has a sensitivity to the presence of water that means changes of size 25ppm of water (on a volumetric scale) can be detected.
