Gas Ultrasonic meter (GUSM) can be calibrated with good repeatability and accuracy using Master meter series validation. On the design aspect, all meter-runs should be designed to have a minimum 3 runs (2 operations + 1 spare run which is also the master meter-run) instead of 2 runs (one operation + 1 as spare which is also the MM). With 2 meter-runs system, master meter series validation can only be done at operating flowrate conditions. However with 3 meter-runs system, adjustment of flowrate (full range) is possible by manipulating valves in the system, as has been achieved in Shell Sarawak. Before removal of master USM for full range 6 points calibration at 3rd party calibration facility, a full range 6 points master meter series validation should be carried out for the operating meter runs (USM).
