摘要

The continuous casting of steel grades within the hypo-peritectic range is known to hold several issues, i.e. crack formation and surface quality. At ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe AG in Duisburg thermodynamic calculations were performed to determine the influence of alloying elements on the peritectic range. Based on the results, a mathematical model was developed in order to predict the peritectic range of steels according to the chemical composition. The equivalent carbon values derived from these investigations are correlated with heat flux data of an instrumented mould and slab related quality data.
