1,5 hexadiyne pyrolysis was studied by using a single pulse shock tube at very high pressure with a reaction time of about 0.0012 seconds. At the temperature range 820 - 950 K in 5000 psi experiments and 825 - 940 K in 9000 psi experiments, there is only one product, which is probably either 1,2-dimethylenecyclobutene or 1,2,4,5-hexatetraene, based on our GC/MS analysis and previous other experimental work. The fitted rate constant of this reaction is k/s~(-1) = 10~(9.95)exp(-28.82kcal/RT). Four more C_6H_6 isomers were generated at 1200 K suggesting the pathway to form aromatic rings might not only involve fulvene and benzene but a more complicated mechanism.
