Reconstruction and Revascularization of the Upper Extremity with Venous Flaps After Traumatic Injury

The authors present a series of 50 venous flaps transplanted for reconstruction and/or revascularization of the hand or digits between 6/2000 and 2/ 2005. Indications for venous flap transplantation were multiple in each case but included soft tissue coverage of vital structures, reconstruction of composite structures, revascularization, and replantation. All flaps were reversed at inset to establish antegrade flow across venous valves. The overall success rate was 48/50 (96%).
