摘要

Molecular markers are organic compounds specific to certain pollution sources1.They are useful to identify the sources of pollutants and trace the transport pathways of contaminants.So far,hydrophobic markers(e.g.,coprostanol,linear alkylbenzenes)have been investigated and applied in many studies and only a few water-soluble markers(e.g.,fluorescent whitening agents)have been available.Discovery of water-soluble markers has been an important challenge of environmental organic geochemists.During last decade,extensive surveys of pharmaceutical and personal care products(PPCPs)have been conducted in sewage effluents and river waters.The surveys suggested several water-soluble markers(e.g.,caffeine,carbamazepine).The present paper proposed crotamiton as a water-soluble persistent molecular marker of sewage.
