Analyzing Database Query Response Times on an Abyss Web Server Hosting Classic ASP Webpages Pulling Data from a SQL Server Database

This project examines the performance of database queries made from an Internet website to a SQL Server database and analyzes the performance metrics using SAS software. The Internet website is hosted by an Abyss web server hosting classic ASP webpages that query a relational database containing text and image data. A similar technology is used by the United Nations News Organization, at the United Nations headquarters building in New York City. This organization has reported slow response times by users seeking to download information from its website, www.un.org/news/. [1] Part of the motivation for this study is to develop a methodology to test the database response times of such a website and to assist in finding possible ways of optimizing database query performance.
