The analysis of sperm motility parameters provided by CASA software is commonly used in order to optimize cryopreservation protocols. However authors did not took full advantage of this systems, relying the motility analysis only in the mean values ofone or two parameters from the eight rendered by the CASA. Sperm is not a homogeneous mixture of cells and the application of a multivariate clustering procedure allows the detection of different sperm subpopulations. This approach has been widely usedin mammals semen; even so, very few authors have applied this analysis to fish semen . Our purpose was to evaluate distinct gilthead seabream (Spams auratd) sperm cryopreservation protocols using a Computer Assay Sperm Analysis (CASA), followed by a multivariate clustering analysis of the data.
