PCR-RFLP ANALYSIS OF THE MITOCHONDRIAL ND-3/4 AND ND-5/6 REGION POLYMORPHISM IN THE COMMON CARP (CYPRINUS CARPIO L.) BROODSTOCKS

Common carp, Cyprinus carpio L., is a very important cultured fish species with long history of domestication. It reached worldwide distribution and numerous strains and local breeds have been developed. Whereas the occurence of wild populations in Europe is questionable, domestic stocks are maintained as genetic resources in live gene banks and imported broodstocks are used for development of productive hybrids. Polymorphism within mitochondrial ND-3/4 and ND-5/6 gene region was studied by PCR-RFLPpolymorhism analysis among common carp breeds and populations held on RIFCH Vodnany belonging to C.c.carpio and C.c.haematopterus subspecies.
