Iron and steel scraps are very important raw materials in steel manufacturing. To make use of iron and steel scraps for manufacturing steel can save energy, cost, consumption of raw materials and reduce pollution to environment. It is in conformity with national strategy of sustainable development, the tenth Five Year Plan and the year of 2010 national goal. Iron and steel scraps can be wealth if being recycled and can also be solid wastes if being thrown away. This idea is recognized not only by professionals in this industry but also gradually by common people. Iron and steel scraps from the manufacturing process in iron and steel plants are called new scraps. There are also iron and steel scraps from the production in other kinds of plants and end of life products in our daily life. Wherever the sources are, all the scraps have to be processed and treated to become again the raw materials for producing iron and steel.
