Computer-generated visualizations of abstract concepts are being used to teach many topics in an introductory Signal Processing course at Georgia Tech. Most of these visualizations are interactive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) and animations that have been developed in the MATLAB software environment. Successful use of these GUIs requires additional course development to produce innovative assignments that promote active learning of the theoretical concepts embedded in the GUIs.
