A tuna is one of the typical marine products which the Japanese like and about 1/3 of the tunas produced in the world is consumed in Japan. The most part of consumed tuna in Japan is raw fish, and half of the above is occupied with an import tuna. Freezing technology is essential to keep freshness of tuna during transportation from the foreign countries. But then, it is a fact that transported process of tuna gives an environmental load, though it is not so much focused. Evaluation of freezing technologies from this environmental viewpoint is important roll in the future. In this article, we compared CO{sub}2 emission of freezing tuna (air transport) with raw tuna (sea transport) by using LCI analysis. As a result, CO{sub}2 emission of air transport is found to be greater than that of sea transport. This is due to the difference in the amount of freight of the airplane and the ship.
