NEW SYNTHETIC METHODS FOR PROPENE PRODUCTION USING ZEOLITE CATALYSTS

New synthetic methods for the production of propene are developed: (1) the conversion of CH4 in the presence of C2H4 over metal cation-exchanged zeolite and (2) the conversion of ethene over H~+-exchanged zeolites. In the latter reaction, SAPO-34, which has a pore size comparable to the kinetic diameter of propene, selectively affords propene with high yield in the conversion of ethene and ethanol.
