Highly macroporous silica foams were prepared by calcinations of hybrid foams,which were obtained by simultaneous polymerization of vinyl groups and trialkoxysilane groups in a high internal phase emulsion.SEM observations indicated that the resulting silica foam had exactly the same cellular structure as the hybrid foam precursor except that their cells and the windows that connect the cells of the open-cell foams became smaller due to shrinkage during calcination Porous solids have made a great impact in applications that include catalysis,sorption,separation,thermal insulation,and dielectric materials.Template synthesis is a commonly used tool in the preparation of porous materials.Colloidal particles and emulsion droplets have been used as templates for making new porous.
