WIND FORCE 10: A BLUEPRINT TO ACHIEVE 10 OF THE WORLD'S ELECTRICITY FROM WIND POWER BY 2020

If wind energy is to make a serious contribution towards tackling global climate change then it will need to be produced around the world in the large proportions of power supply envisaged by some European countries. This was the thinking behind the report published last year by the European Wind Energy Association, Greenpeace International and the Danish Forum for Energy and Development. Entitled "Wind Force 10", the aim of the study was to show how soon 10% of the world's electricity could be generated by wind power, and how this could be achieved. Its broad conclusion is that the 10% target could be reached by 2020. In the process, 1.7 million jobs would be created and global carbon dioxide emissions reduced by 10 billion tonnes.
