We have recently reported the electrochemically-induced removal of spyroquinone-type adducts from [60]fullerene (1), similar to the process previously described for malonate adducts (2). All, of the published studies thus far had been conducted in dichloromethane, which has recently been shown to react with the trianion of [60]fullerene to readily form methano-adducts (3).
