The future energy transmission is in high temperature superconducting (HTS) power cable because of its many advantages over conventional systems. HTS conductors can carry very high current densities with strongly reduced conductor loss in the AC case, and virtually no conductor loss for DC. At present, only DC power transmission line seems to be more feasible than AC cables. In Chubu University an experimental setup of 20m long DC HTS power cable system has been installed. In this paper we present the experimental results of the electrical properties of individual tapes in our experimental setup.
