Why should the government be concerned with ADAS?

Whilst there can be little doubt that ADAS and their interactions with the driver and vehicle are intended to be beneficial or safety neutral at the least, they do have significant potential for side effects that may be detrimental to safety. Itis the Government's responsibility to see that the beneficial aspects are maximised, with the detrimental aspects being minimised such that there is no overall safety dis-benefit of such systems.
