Space charge distribution in oil-impregnated pressboard under dc voltage stress and shorted circuit has been studied by using a pulse electro-acousic (PEA) method. Especially this paper has studied the effect of additive BTA on space charge accumulation characteristics in pressboard. Two oil-impregnated pressboards with BTA and without BTA are tested in order to study the effect of additive BTA on space charge accumulation. Both of them were observed the accumulation of negative homo-space charge at near cathode. The amount of accumulated space charge in oil-impregnated pressboard without BTA was larger than that in the pressboard with BTA.
